CloudsCreditRepair™ FAQ

What is a credit score?

A credit score is a three-digit number (typically 300–850) generated from your credit file that estimates how likely you are to repay borrowed money on time.

Explanation

Credit scores are produced by scoring models — most commonly FICO® and VantageScore® — using the data reported by lenders, collectors, and other furnishers to the three nationwide credit bureaus: Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion.

Scores are not stored at the bureaus. They are calculated on demand each time a lender, landlord, or service provider requests one, which means the same person can have different scores at the same moment depending on which model and bureau is used.

Examples
  • FICO® 8 (most common consumer score)
  • FICO® 9 (newer treatment of medical collections)
  • VantageScore® 4.0 (used by many free monitoring tools)
